TIR Systems LTD, makers of the Lightpipe system, specializes in the manufacture of remote light source systems that are used for everything from delineating tall buildings to backlighting large glass features in malls, to providing needed illumination in MRI facilities and swimming facilities. Locally, you can view the lightpipe system comprising two wide bands of white light around Oklahoma Tower in downtown Oklahoma City. The basic premise of their product is a lightsource of either HID or LED origin sealed in the end of a visible aperature "pipe" that is surrounded on the interior surface with special films that promote light travel down the length of the tube. The result is a wide lightsource that does not ever have to be accessed down it's length and one that will provide decades of good service. Late in 2001, TIR entered into an OEM partnership with Color Kinetics, to integrate Color Kinetic's Chromocore technology with the Lightpipe system. The result is a wide band of light that can be any of 16 million colors and require virtually no maintenance ever!
